Hey everyone! Partly burying trees is a great way to vary the height of your foliage, and to make it looks less like your trees are all placed on a grid. You can accomplish this by disabling clearance checks, and disabling support limits. You should then be able to move trees into the ground by holding shift when placing them.
However, when you try to partly bury a tree at the edge of a cliff or the edge of the map, the tree will usually end up looking very glitchy. Part of the ground will be visible through the tree.
Mekkit has provided us with a simple method to get rid of this glitching, making it so that the ground is no longer visible through the tree. Simple place two quarter-tile objects on the far corner of the tile which the tree sits on. This could be objects like barrels, bushes, or small cogwheels.
In the image above I placed an extra tree which has two bushes on the same tile in the far corner. The ground can no longer be seen through the buried tree.
From the opposite angle, the bushes can be seen through the tree however. For this reason, it may be best to either hide the object by placing something in front of it (like another tree), or using a recolourable object like the fruit drop from the giant candy set, and recolouring that in the invisible color. For this you will need to enable the cheat for Special Colour schemes from the cheat menu.
There are usually two glitchy angles for trees that are buried on an edge, so you will have to repeat this for the other angle. When you have done this, the buried tree should look fine from every angle!
